Dear Colorado Voter,

It's hot in Colorado, and too much of the state is on fire. I hope you and your loved ones are staying cool and safe.

The Democratic primary's Sec of State contest had significant roll-off compared to other contested statewide contests on the ballot (July 6th unofficial results). Clearly, the Sec of State contest was not top of mind for many people.

• ~71K fewer votes than U.S. Senate (Hickenlooper vs Gonzales) 888,686 votes

• ~65K fewer votes than Governor (Weiser vs Bennet) 882,039

• Secretary of State (Gonzalez vs Danielson) 817,513

• ~49K fewer votes than Attorney General (Griswold vs Seligman vs Dougherty vs Doshi) 866,138

Celeste is the only candidate who …

• publicly refuses to conduct unconstitutional elections,

• is a national expert on better voting methods that can solve vote splitting (that we see in the Republican gubernatorial primary),

• successfully lobbied their member of Congress to co-sponsor a bill that eliminates congressional gerrymandering,

• wrote election laws improving ballot access for candidates and limiting electronic voting,

• has worked to re-enfranchise almost-18-year-olds in primary elections,

• has worked on more meaningful reporting of election results,

• is committed to fulfilling the SoS duty to write rules for proportional ranked voting and also for Approval Voting,

• advocates for independent election audits and is part of a national election audits working group.

In last week's email on election news, I forgot to include an item that I did mention in a timely social media post.

• June 25 – A federal judge declares unconstitutional Trump's attempt to give the U.S. Postal Service unprecedented authority over who can vote by mail.

Fundraising comments: I figure I need about 1.5 million votes in November to win. Most of those voters won't donate to anyone's campaign, but, if history is any judge, many of them will complain about money in politics and/or non-stop ads and texts. Today a friend donated $8.01 to my campaign – helping me with my goal of 81 such donations by 8/1/26 (Colorado Day). I hope that $8.01 is both an accessible entry-level amount for a new donor and a way to acknowledge Colorado's sesquicentennial. If you feel that $8.01 is not enough, you can always donate more later! My friend's husband donated $100.
